The COVID-19 crisis has exacerbated the global limitations of mobility, logistics, supply chains, and our need for social contact. We are currently more digitally connected than ever, yet we are also more physically isolated than ever before.
This project is taking example from Con Nuestro Propios Esfuerzos, a publication made in Cuba during the 1990's when the country was going through a special period after the fall of the Iron Curtain. We were introduced to this book through Ernesto Oroza, who had been making the work of translating this collection of practices, methodologies and recipes from that book.
The objective of this one-week project was to create and find ways of communicating a new publication, with content that emerged from COVID19 crisis - within education, food, future jobs and energy... We’ve been taking the current global pandemic as an opportunity, to initiate this project and find hyperlocal projects and emergent practices responding to current necessity.
The students have been working to document and collect information, with the aim to create a living archive of the practices collected in Barcelona and internationally, in response to a global state of emergency. We started by framing the research and finding strategies and tools to work together during this project.
Read a small piece written for this project, which was submitted for the 'Viral Design Book', created and released online by the Distributed Design Platform.
