Planning a new use for one of the squares in Skärholmen

This project aims to bring more interaction into one of the squares located in Skärholmen, Sweden, focusing on the physicality of the square and the different heights of the elements surrounding it. In order to give more depth to the square and allow interaction to happen, I play with levels and height to give a sense of an uneven landscape with structures to be used as furniture.

It is a visual interactive structure that changes in time. It combines Time and Light. Light will make some surfaces appear and others disappear at different times of the day which make the structure’s shape ephemeral. Layered platforms positioned with a small angle to give more height. I see the combination of these structures as forming a landscape that takes over the floor of origin. The pieces can be assembled together or put apart to from smaller surface. The wood is taking over the concrete is some parts. Light and shadow, rough concrete and smooth wood, cold and warm feeling, the wood’s warmth would invite people to seat where it is placed and suggest different use for different aims such as laying on a lightly angles structure to rest outside in the summer. The duo displayed in the photographs go together. More can be assembled if wanted in a larger scale, covering a bigger surface. The different angles allows us to play with the positioning to get different scales of the overall structure and sitting surfaces covered by wood.
